Mark
Watts, partner in Abacus Associates, has been involved in survey research
for nearly two decades. Mark has consulted for presidential,
gubernatorial, congressional, and mayoral campaigns, as well as statewide
ballot initiatives. In addition, Mark has conducted dozens of
surveys for education associations, environmental organizations, corporations,
and government agencies across the country. Mark was featured
as a "Rising Star" in 2002, by Campaigns and Elections
magazine.
Mark has a background
as an educator and scholar. He is an authority on political
campaigns and the impact of the media on public opinion. He
has published numerous articles on these topics in Campaigns and
Elections, Communication Research, Journal of Communication,
Journal of Politics, Journalism and Mass Media Quarterly,
Political Communication, Public Opinion Quarterly, and
Public Perspective. He is a regular participant at training
seminars sponsored by Campaigns & Elections.
Before
joining Abacus, Mark co-directed the Institute for Public Opinion
Research (IPOR) at Florida International University. Mark
received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Minnesota
and his B.A. in government and history from Skidmore College.
He has taught American government and political science courses
at the University of Minnesota and Florida International University
and survey research methods for the School of Journalism and Mass
Communications at Florida International University.
Mark
is a member of the American Association of Public Opinion Research
and the American Association of Political Consultants.
