Mark Watts, partner in Abacus Associates, has been involved in survey research for over two decades, conducting surveys for political campaigns, market research, member organizing, and public policy surveys.
Politically, Mark has consulted for presidential, gubernatorial, congressional, and mayoral campaigns, as well as statewide ballot initiatives. He has been featured as a "Rising Star" by Campaigns and Elections magazine.
Mark has a background as an educator and scholar. He is an authority on political campaigns and the impact of the media on public opinion. He has published numerous articles on these topics in Campaigns and Elections, Communication Research, Journal of Communication, Journal of Politics, Journalism and Mass Media Quarterly, Political Communication, Public Opinion Quarterly, and Public Perspective.
Before joining Abacus, Mark co-directed the Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR) at Florida International University. Mark received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Minnesota. He has taught American government and political science courses at the University of Minnesota and Florida International University, and survey research methods for the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Florida International University.
Mark is a member of the American Association of Public Opinion Research and the American Association of Political Consultants.
