Mark Watts is the President and Principal of Abacus Associates. He has been involved in survey research for nearly three decades, conducting surveys for political campaigns, market research, member organizing, and to develop and improve public policy. Mark has consulted for presidential, gubernatorial, congressional, and mayoral campaigns, as well as statewide ballot initiatives. He has been featured as a "Rising Star" by Campaigns and Elections magazine.
Mark is an authority on political campaigning and the impact of communication and the media on public opinion. He has published numerous articles on these topics in Campaigns and Elections, Communication Research, Journal of Communication, Journal of Politics, Journalism and Mass Media Quarterly, Political Communication, Public Opinion Quarterly, and Public Perspective.
Before joining Abacus, Mark co-directed the Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR) at Florida International University. He received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Minnesota, and has taught political science and survey research courses at the University of Minnesota and Florida International University.
Mark is a long-standing member of the American Association of Public Opinion Research and the American Association of Political Consultants.
