Survey
Research and In-Depth Interviews
Depending
upon client needs, we conduct surveys and in-depth interviews to gain
the information we need to develop recommendations and strategies
for meeting our clients goals. These surveys and interviews
allow us to identify salient issues and concerns in policy development
and analysis, strategic marketing and branding, increasing retention
and recruitment, and communications planning. We work closely with
your staff and other consultants to design a high quality questionnaire
or interview protocol tailored to meet your distinctive research needs.
We use the results of these surveys and interviews as appropriate
to help clients influence public policy, set issue agendas, improve
public images, expand customer bases, increase retention and recruitment,
and raise funds.
Focus
Groups
Through focus groups, we uncover the underlying feelings, concerns,
and priorities of different types of individuals and groups. We also
employ tactical focus groups to evaluate the reactions of target groups
to particular information, including slogans, messages, or media themes.
We conduct these small-group qualitative studies to pinpoint concerns
that could be explored more broadly with survey or other data or to
gain the information necessary to most effectively achieve our clients
goals.
Statistical
and Data Analysis
Abacus Associates are highly trained and practiced in using advanced
statistics and methods for both academic and professional work. In
addition to multiple regression analysis, probit and logit regression,
and cluster analysis, Abacus analysts are proficient with 2-stage
least squares, ANOVA, experimental design, time-series and time-series-cross-section
models including ARIMA and VAR models, GLS, LISREL and confirmatory
factor analysis, CHAID, and hierarchical linear modeling (HLM).
Abacus analysts
are proficient in analyzing a wide array of data, including salary,
tuition, enrollment, budgetary and other institutional data; student
test scores; membership and customer lists; behavioral; and census
and other demographic data.
Follow-Up
After gathering and analyzing the appropriate information and data,
we work as strategic partners with the client or project team to design,
implement, and monitor a plan to achieve our clients goals.
This may include developing the most compelling message and communication
strategy, working with staff and direct mail and media consultants,
writing press releases or reports designed to influence public opinion
or policy makers, and presenting results to targeted groups or individuals.
